For the first time in five years, Kanata Educational Consultancy Services, a trusted study abroad consultancy in the Philippines, officially welcomed its first batch of students for on-the-job training (OJT). This marked a meaningful milestone for the company and opened up a new opportunity to mentor future professionals in a real-world work environment.
This internship program wasn’t just about giving students a glimpse of the real world. It became a space for collaboration, learning, and fresh creativity. The energy these students brought into the company reminded us of the excitement of starting something new and the power of ideas that come from a younger generation eager to learn.
What made this OJT Program even more meaningful was how it helped us hear directly from Gen Z voices, their thoughts, questions, and insights about studying abroad. Through conversations and shared experiences, it became clear that many Filipino students still aren’t fully aware of the opportunities available to them overseas. That’s why this experience also pushed us to work harder in our mission to bridge Filipino students to global education and make sure no one gets left behind.
As part of their culminating activity, the interns presented marketing concepts and content ideas that spoke to students just like them. They helped us better understand how to connect with the younger generation, and how to make study abroad feel more relatable, fun, and doable. Their proposals were thoughtful, creative, and full of purpose, proof that when students are empowered, they can help shape the future of education, too.
