Kwantlen Polytechnic University

Established by the government of British Columbia in 1981, Kwantlen, now Kwantlen Polytechnic University has five campuses located in the Metro Vancouver region of British Columbia.

KPU offers bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, diplomas, certificates and citations in more than 140 programs. Almost 20,000 students annually attend courses at KPU campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Langley, Cloverdale, and Civic Plaza.

Northern Lights College

The Northern Lights College officially opened in September 1975. In the very beginning, it was a vocational school known as the BC Vocational School-Dawson Creek.

It was primarily serving the Peace River Region. The curriculum for this school was divided into two parts: pre-apprenticeship and pre-employment. In May 1975, a Northeastern Community College was created. The college had held a ‘Name the College’ contest.

The College of New Caledonia has served the needs of students in B.C.’s Central Interior since 1969—and with the inclusion of the B.C. Vocational School, since 1962. The College region is approximately 117,500 sq. km. (or 12% of the province), with a population today exceeding 148,000.
